Founder
Michael DeLeon is on a mission: A mission to educate youth to stay on the right path when it comes to serious life issues, especially drugs. He has become the #1 booked school presenter in the country.
Michael is the founder and powerhouse behind Steered Straight Inc., a non-profit organization formed in 2007 upon his release from prison and designed to carry an important message to youth on the extreme dangers of drugs, gang involvement and associated criminal activity.
Steered Straight’s program reaches out to children, teens and young adults with a message of reality about life-choices and the importance of consequential thinking so they understand that there are consequences to their actions. The reality of the message comes from Michael himself, who was entwined in the life of drugs and traveled a troubled road to get to his future.
Michael has now created the Steered Straight Learning Center to carry on his message in an instructional format where students learn more on the truth about drugs and their long-term effects.
Why Steered Straight?
Steered Straight is a 17-year proven program that does not explain drug prevention at school assemblies but TEACHES the reality of drugs and devises a prevention message the students implement themselves within their school system.
Steered Straight does not just stop after the school assembly but now offers a series of courses that continue the education on drugs and their effects. Our program is built on experience from someone who has suffered the consequences of addiction and the negative decisions that led to it.
Steered Straight is dedicated to educating students about the harmful nature of drugs and alcohol and the deadly impact it can and will have on their lives. We remove the concern parents’ have on how to help their kids and replace it with active solutions.
We have found that the “just say no” message has not worked, nor will discipline and scare tactics. To actively achieve students wanting to stop using whatever substance, on whatever level and on their own, is only achieved through education and an engaging and powerful message, which Steered Straight delivers.
